Support Group has 30,000 Members!

Our IUD Side Effects Support Group
on Facebook
has reached 30,000 members!!!

This milestone brings with it many conflicting emotions.

While we feel like celebrating that so many of us have finally found the answers and support that we so desperately need, it is also sobering to see how many of us are still out there and how many of us are being adversely affected by our IUDs.

In any case, it is important to commemorate this event by sharing some of the background of our group and how it has affected the lives of its members.

GROUP DESCRIPTION

When I first found this group almost 7 years ago, I was astounded to find that 1,800 other people were also having problems with their IUDs. It felt like such a huge number!, but I quickly learned that the reality about those being adversely affected is much much larger than I had thought. In the time that I have been part of the group, I have watched it grow at a remarkable rate as those who are in need find our community, which is often an essential part of our recovery process.

MEMBER GROWTH RATE
The group has been growing at this same steady rate for the past 8+ years.

We are a very active group with lots of posts and comments which range from quick introductions to the most detailed personal stories of dramatic life altering challenges which have sometimes been going on for many years.

There are also lots of requests and questions:

  • questions about specific adverse effects and who else is experiencing them

  • requests for immediate energetic support when at the hospital getting an IUD surgically removed

  • announcements that someone is feeling much improvement after removal

  • reports on how a specific recovery protocol has helped

  • shares of articles about IUDs

  • and much more!

All of these conversations are now a searchable database of experiences which have covered virtually every IUD related topic and adverse effect imaginable. It also makes it quick and easy for new members to find information about their particular issues and join in conversations with others who have gone through similar things and who can give the benefit of their experiences.

GROUP ACTIVITY over the Past 3 Months

With so many new members joining each and every week, we are also grateful that so many of our members hang around to “pay it forward'“ and spend time answering questions.

That almost 2/3 of our group members are considered active reflects the supportiveness and responsiveness of our international community!

ACTIVE MEMBERS- almost 2/3 of our group is active!

TESTIMONIALS

“I've had 3 different brands of IUDs spanning over a 7 year period with many horror stories from each of them. This group gave me courage not to allow someone else to dictate my body and my needs.”

“After IUD insertion. My quality of life went down hill. I was constantly gaslighting my symptoms because my Doctors didn't think what I was experiencing was a real thing. That it was mental. My quality of life deteriorated to the point I couldn't function normally or care for my children. I was thinking about ending my life everyday. I came across this page full of women who were experiencing the same thing. It gave me the strength to hold on a day at a time and find a doctor who was willing to remove my iud. I thank all you ladies.”

“This group helped me realize others with hormonal iuds also experience vestibular side effects such as ringing in the ears/tinnitus, pressure in the ears, room spinning vertigo, and/or sudden hearing loss. These are not listed on the warnings and doctors like ents do not understand the connection. Thank you for this group!”

“My daughter had a mental health breakdown months having an iud placed. Her drs convinced her not her iud, her therapist refused to discuss it. Traumatic and heartbreaking. This page helped me understand what was going on.”

“This FB group helped me realize IUD device is toxic poison. And it was not just me suffering”

“The stories and information shared in this group helped me to finally feel validated after over a year of a variety of specialists, including gynaecologists, telling me there was nothing wrong. I’m so very grateful to finally have my body and mind back. “

“I'll never forget what it felt like to find this group, to find people who were suffering from the same "mystery" symptoms I was, who had experienced the same dismissal from doctors, but who also hadn't given up on themselves, and had found their own answers. It was just a wave of pure relief, validation, and hope. Removing my IUD gave me my mental, physical and emotional health back, and I'm eternally grateful to this group for giving me my answer after 5 years of searching.”

“I started having mysterious symptoms including extreme fatigue, joint pain, swollen knee, plantar fasciitis, ear shell pain, motion tremor, headache, hair loss, hives, and chronic UTI, insomnia, strange body odor since after I had Mirena insertion to treat endometrial hyperplasia. I went to see many specialists including rheumatologist for joint pain, sport medicine for my swollen knee, neurologist for motion tremor and gynecologist for chronic UTI and had many tests but besides elevated ANA, none of them could figure out what's gone wrong with me. This FB group helped me to realize I am not the only one having these symptoms. I've decided to have my IUD removed so that I could confirm whether my symptoms were really caused by my IUD. One month after the removal, I've already felt so much better. I haven't been able to wring my towel or turn my faucet because of my joint pain. Now I can. Thank you for letting me join this group. The experiences, advices and info shared by the users of this group have helped me to get back my quality of life.”

“I feel like finding this group quite literally saved my life! The doctors kept telling me that my IUD "could not" be related to my problems, but when I found this group I discovered that there were thousands of others going through the same thing and they helped me begin to recover!”
