Experiencing puzzling health issues?
These Early Warning Signs are the ones that women in IUD support groups identify as the beginning of their problems.
Several of them can happen in the course of daily life, but if the number or intensity of the things listed here are increasing since getting an IUD, then it might be time to really pay attention and consider removal.
Listen to what your body is trying to tell you.
The founder of IUD Awareness got a Paragard copper IUD (Intra Uterine Device) put in in November 2014 after it was highly recommended by her naturopath as the "safest" and "most effective" form of birth control.
Her body immediately reacted poorly with a myriad of strange physicaL, emotional and mental symptoms....... which she did not even imagine could be related to the object inside of her body. By 5 months, her symptoms had steadily worsened to the point that she was unable to care for herself and was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder and put on medications for another 5 months of struggling with ever worsening problems.
Finally, in September of 2015, she made the connection by finding other women's stories and had her IUD removed the very next day.
Upon removal of the IUD, some of her symptoms went away almost immediately and within 2 days most of the rest were improving dramatically!!
In the process of healing from this health crisis she has come into contact with more than 25,000 other women with similar stories. It is vital that women be properly informed about the risks involved with IUD use.
This IUD Awareness effort has now become her mission.
IUDawareness.com is a resource for anyone who wants to know more about the risks and potential side effects associated with IUD use and is also intended to be a hub for finding out about all the various educational efforts that have been made over the past 40+ years of IUD use.
Because of the often one-sided and minimal warnings given by health professionals, government agencies & manufacturers, women experiencing IUD symptoms have taken to online groups, blogs, bulletin boards and Facebook Pages to discover that their health problems are related to their IUDs, to try to figure out why their bodies are reacting so negatively to IUD use, share their stories so other women can be adequately informed and also to figure out how they can support the healing and recovering process.
One of these online spaces is the public IUD Awareness Facebook Page, which is full of comments, first-hand stories and links to information and articles from women around the world who would like the whole story of IUD's to be told.
Check it out and be sure to toggle to the "Notes" page for a collection of the most condensed & critical content.
IUD Awareness is also helps admin a closed Facebook group called IUD Side Effects: Paragard, Mirena, Skyla & Liletta, etc.....
The support group for those who:
have had side effects to an IUD;
feel like they might currently be having adverse reactions and looking for answers;
currently have an IUD and want to inform themselves further;
are considering getting an IUD for either birth control or other health reasons and want to be informed of the risks and side effects through the personal experience of other women rather than solely information from clinicians & manufacturers
Please note the support group is primarily made up of women who have been harmed by one or more forms of IUDs and is not the place to find pro-IUD information, which is prevalent elsewhere.
We are here to help and support each other cope with our health issues resulting from these devices, however, we are not doctors or professionals and only advise and support from person experience, not professional medical training.
Feel like your life is falling apart?
Having crazy thoughts?
If you have had any of these Severe Problems develop or get dramatically worse since getting an IUD, then it is most likely time to get it removed asap.
The majority of women on support groups report improvement after removal, often very quickly.

A new documentary called "The Bleeding Edge" is now available to watch on Netflix.
While it is not directly about IUD's, it does deal with a lot of parallel issues regarding the medical device industry in the United States.
